A member of our Bowling Green Sport Riders organization lost his 3yr old son on May 29th, 2010 when Preston Ray Madison was found at the bottom of the family pool. Preston was air evacuated to Nashville where he was pronounced the following day.
That following day, Preston's family was asked to make a decision that no parent would imagine having to make for a child. They where asked if Preston would be a organ donor.
Meanwhile, as Preston's family is handling services, our group carried out a 2nd annual "Draggin the Alpine" bike rally which was held in Burkesville, Ky at the Alpine Hotel. Now for the last two years, the Living Word Ministires church in Burkesville, Ky has offered support for those attending the event, which this year included breakfast for those who stayed to Sunday, as well as a church service and bike blessing.
While attending this church service, a member of that church from Burkesville stood up and wanted to thank everyone in the congrigation for the prayers, and inform everyone of how his now 3yr old grandson is doing very well after a heart transplant that took place on May 31st, 2010 in Nashville. What came next just about floored everyone who attended. This gentleman wanted the church to keep the Smiths Grove family in thier prayers while they are going through the hard time after recently loosing thier only child to a drownding.
Caden Jace, who had been in Nashville at the Vanderbuilt Childrens Hospital for the last 13 months had a rare heart condition that only allowed for an expected life of 5yrs of age.
Preston's donation reached a child who's been so close to us all along...
Begining with this ride, the Bowling Green Sport Riders group will begin a annual
Organ Donation Awareness benifit ride to be held the last weekend of May each year.
